Jorhat Medical College & Hospital (JMCH), Assam, established in 2009, is the fourth government medical college of Assam. It was set up to meet the healthcare and medical education demands of Upper Assam and adjoining regions. The foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on 25 August 2008, and the hospital wing was inaugurated by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on 12 October 2009.
Situated at Swahid Kushal Konwar Path, KB Road, Barbheta, Jorhat, JMCH has rapidly grown into a premier tertiary care teaching hospital serving more than 1.2 million people of Jorhat district, as well as patients from Golaghat, Sivasagar, Majuli, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh.
The college is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and affiliated with Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS), Assam. It admits 125 MBBS students annually along with 94 postgraduate students, and is also a Regional Centre of Medical Education Technologies (NMC) for Assam and West Bengal.
