Guntur Medical College (GMC), Guntur, is one of the premier government medical colleges in South India, established in 1946 during pre-independent India. Affiliated with Dr. YSR University of Health Sciences, GMC is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and is widely respected for its academic excellence, clinical material, and research contributions.

With an annual intake of 200 MBBS seats, GMC also offers extensive PG (MD/MS) and super-specialty programs across pre-clinical, para-clinical, and clinical branches. The college works in close association with the Government General Hospital (GGH), Guntur, a 1,170-bed tertiary care hospital, ensuring students receive rich clinical exposure.

GMC is also one of the few institutions in India with satellite-based medical training, a central library housing 28,000+ books & 200 journals, and a modern 900-seater auditorium built with alumni contributions (GMCANA).
