Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College (GSVM Medical College, Kanpur) is one of the oldest and most prestigious government medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh. Established in 1956, it was named after freedom fighter and journalist Shri Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi. The foundation stone was laid by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, marking it as the first medical college in independent Uttar Pradesh.
Affiliated with Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University (ABVMU), Lucknow, and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC), GSVM Medical College has an annual MBBS intake of 250 students.
