All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rajkot (AIIMS Rajkot) is one of the newest AIIMS institutions established by the Government of India to expand quality medical education and advanced healthcare in Gujarat and western India. Founded in 2020, with its first MBBS batch inaugurated on 21 December 2020, the institute began functioning from a temporary campus at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Government Medical College, Rajkot, under the mentorship of AIIMS Jodhpur.
AIIMS Rajkot currently admits 50 MBBS students annually through the NEET-UG examination, with plans to expand into postgraduate, super-specialty, and nursing programs in the near future. The permanent campus, whose foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 31 December 2020, is under development with state-of-the-art facilities including a multi-specialty hospital, modern academic blocks, research labs, hostels, and digital learning infrastructure
